Hot Club of SRQ
June 18 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Hot Club of SRQ – they play Gypsy Jazz that is deeply rooted in the style of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. This music simply swings and is full of beauty and romance! Emulating the style of what the French call “Jazz Manouche” and “Le Jazz Hot” in the style of Sinti virtuosos and the “Quintette du Hot Club de France” circa 1934-1948.
The Hot Club of SRQ Quartet’s sound can best be described as a 21st century hybrid of the famous “Quintette du Hot Club de France”. The “QHCF” was the most interesting and important jazz ensemble to come out of Europe; however, remains a relatively unknown treasure in the United States. The treasured ensemble was born in 1934 when guitarist Django Reinhardt met violinist Stéphane Grappelli and began jamming in between Django’s dance band sets. Their group was named after the “Hot Club de France”, a meeting place for jazz musicians and fans in Paris.
Hot Club of SRQ ensemble is a group of classically trained virtuoso’s and jazz masters that have worked together professionally for over 10 years. Each performer is absolutely proficient in classical as well as all jazz genres (this is not common). They also draw inspiration musically from around the globe and have a passion for performing Parisian Jazz, Rumba Flamenco, Be Bop, Bossanova, Samba, Tango, Afro Cuban and the American songbook. Keven Aland, our violinist has been known to sing a few songs on occasion.
